PopStreet Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 8, 2026
PopStreet (“PopStreet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the PopStreet mobile application and the website at popstreet.io (together, the “Service”), which helps people discover pop-up stores in Seoul. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
The Service is operated by PopStreet. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at: privacy@popstreet.io
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Location Information
With your permission, we access your device’s approximate or precise location to: sort pop-up stores by distance from you, show your position on the map, and provide directions to a store. We request location access only when you first use a location-dependent feature (such as Directions or the map’s “near you” view). We do not continuously track your location in the background, and we do not store your location on our servers — it is used on your device to calculate distances and is sent to your chosen maps application only when you request directions. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device settings; the Service remains usable without it, with location-based features disabled.
2.2 Anonymous Device Identifier
To let you save stores, add stickers, and post comments without creating an account, we generate a random anonymous identifier stored on your device. This identifier is not linked to your real-world identity and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
2.3 Account Information (Optional)
If you choose to create an account or sign in, we collect the information associated with your sign-in method (such as your email address) and any profile details or avatar you provide. Accounts are optional; most features work without one.
2.4 User-Generated Content
We collect content you choose to submit, including comments, stickers placed on store pages, photos you upload, and pop-up store submissions. This content may be visible to other users of the Service.
2.5 Usage and Device Information
We collect limited technical and usage information necessary to operate the Service, such as aggregate counts (for example, how many users saved or viewed a store) and standard log information generated when you interact with the app or website.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- show pop-up stores near you and provide directions;
- let you save stores and post comments, stickers, and photos;
- display aggregate popularity information (saves, views);
- review and moderate user-submitted content;
- maintain the security and integrity of the Service; and
- respond to your requests and communications.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share information only as described below:
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Service: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Vercel (website and application hosting), Kakao (converting store addresses into map coordinates), Naver (map display), and Apple (app distribution). These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
- Other users. Content you choose to make public (comments, stickers, uploaded photos, store submissions) is visible to other users.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PopStreet, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If PopStreet is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service. Location data is not retained on our servers. User-generated content is retained until you delete it or your account, or until the related pop-up is removed. Account information is retained while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls on our database and encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you,
- correct inaccurate information,
- delete your information,
- object to or restrict certain processing, and
- withdraw consent (for example, by revoking location permission).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@popstreet.io. You can also revoke location access in your device settings, delete your own comments, stickers, and uploaded photos within the app, and request account deletion by contacting us.
If you are in the Republic of Korea, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@popstreet.io and we will delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States and the Republic of Korea. Where required, we take steps to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may link to third-party websites or services (for example, opening Apple Maps or Naver Map for directions, or linking to a store’s external page). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the Service where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
